Preity Zinta, co-owner of Punjab Kings, conveyed an emotional message for fans following the team’s narrow failure to qualify for the IPL 2026 playoffs.
Finishing fifth in the points table with 15 points, the Punjab Kings fell short of the playoffs by just a single point. The franchise had high hopes this season after their impressive performance as runners-up last year.
The Kings kicked off their campaign with a remarkable six-match winning streak, establishing themselves as one of the tournament's front-runners for the initial weeks.
However, the second half of the tournament proved challenging, and securing victories became increasingly difficult. Despite their valiant effort till the last match, the Punjab Kings could not secure a spot in the top four.
In light of the team’s exit, Zinta took to X to express her heartfelt appreciation to fans for their steadfast support throughout the challenging season.
She wrote, “A heartfelt thank you to everyone supporting PBKS for being with us through this wild journey of IPL 2026. From the ups and downs, your love made it all worthwhile. Until next time, sending my love and best wishes to you all.”
Throughout the season, Zinta maintained an optimistic demeanor, encouraging players and fans even in the face of defeats. After a disappointing drop in their winning streak, she reminded them that many games remained.
As for the playoffs, the lineup was finalized after Rajasthan Royals clinched the fourth spot with a victory over Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru also secured their spot in the IPL 2026 final, defeating Gujarat Titans by 92 runs in Qualifier 1 held at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
