Quang Ninh's City Proposal Garnering Overwhelming Approval

Post by : Shakul

In a remarkable show of support, the proposal for establishing Quang Ninh city in Vietnam has gained nearly unanimous backing from local residents, as reported by the Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee.

The public consultation process followed guidelines aligned with national goals for administrative restructuring and development, approved by Vietnam's top leadership earlier this year. This proposal intends to create Quang Ninh city using the current administrative borders of Quang Ninh province.

Local authorities organized extensive public consultation campaigns, which included publishing project details online and making them available at various public offices, cultural centers, and community spaces. To facilitate direct engagement, numerous public opinion collection teams were formed across the province.

Officials disclosed that a total of 2,563 consultation teams comprising over 10,000 members were established to maintain transparency and accessibility throughout the consultation process. This framework was designed to encourage residents to share their thoughts regarding the proposed city formation.

The consultation concluded with participation from 385,597 households, accounting for 99.44% of the total in the province. An impressive 385,440 households voiced their support, translating to a staggering approval rate of 99.96%.

Notably, areas such as Bai Chay, Ha Long, and Tuan Chau reported a full agreement rate of 100%. Even Ky Thuong commune, despite being the lowest in support, saw a remarkable approval of 99.49%.

Only 154 households opposed the proposal, making up a mere 0.04% of valid feedback. Provincial officials stated that these results highlight the public's confidence and aspirations for Quang Ninh’s growth and urban development.

The overwhelming backing showcases a strong public belief in the long-term economic prospects and the province's commitment to administrative reform and modernization, as Quang Ninh aims to evolve into a key urban hub in Vietnam.
