PureHealth, the Middle East's largest healthcare group, has attained full accreditation from the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs (AAHRPP) for its prominent entities, SEHA and Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City. This achievement underscores the group's commitment to maintaining high clinical research standards and ethical practices.
The research initiatives of SEHA and SSMC are coordinated through the Abu Dhabi Health Research Centre, which acts as PureHealth's primary research facility. The centre manages research across 16 hospitals, community health clinics, and state-of-the-art laboratories in Abu Dhabi. Currently, it facilitates over 200 active studies, spanning from early-phase trials to advanced clinical investigations and translational research.
Earning AAHRPP accreditation is viewed as a significant marker of excellence in the protection of human subjects in research. This rigorous peer-review process is voluntary and exceeds basic regulatory expectations. SEHA and SSMC's accreditation is valid for three years, symbolizing PureHealth’s robust governance framework and its dedication to high-quality, ethical research practices.
Commenting on this achievement, Shaista Asif highlighted that the group has established a research framework that meets international benchmarks. She noted that this accolade further cements Abu Dhabi’s reputation as a pivotal centre for clinical research and advancements in life sciences.
AAHRPP President and CEO Elyse I. Summers extended her congratulations to PureHealth, acknowledging the organization’s steadfast commitment to safeguarding research participants and upholding ethical integrity.
This accreditation is vital for attracting international clinical trial sponsors, as it assures them of strong ethical governance and operational excellence. By reaching this important milestone, PureHealth reinforces its role as a reliable partner for intricate clinical trials and aids in propelling Abu Dhabi’s evolution as a premier global centre for advanced healthcare research.
