Qatar Welcomes Dutch and Belgian Ban on Settlement Products

The State of Qatar has welcomed the decisions by the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Kingdom of Belgium to ban products originating from Israeli settlements. Qatar described the measures as an important step that supports international efforts to discourage settlement policies in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Qatar Calls the Move an Important Step

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the bans represent a significant action against settlement policies that it said violate international legitimacy. The ministry stated that these policies are in clear violation of international resolutions, particularly United Nations Security Council Resolution 2334, and described them as a serious infringement on the rights of the Palestinian people.

According to the ministry, the decisions taken by the Netherlands and Belgium contribute to wider efforts aimed at discouraging settlement expansion and reinforcing respect for international law.

Qatar Urges More Countries to Take Similar Measures

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed hope that additional countries would adopt similar measures regarding products from Israeli settlements. It emphasized the importance of the international community fulfilling its legal and moral responsibilities to ensure that Israel halts its settlement policies in the occupied Palestinian territories.

The ministry said greater international action is necessary to address the issue and support efforts based on international legitimacy.

Qatar Reaffirms Support for the Palestinian Cause

The statement also reaffirmed Qatar's long-standing position in support of the Palestinian cause and the Palestinian people. The ministry said this position remains firmly based on the resolutions of international legitimacy and the two-state solution.

Qatar reiterated its support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
