During the Shangri-La Dialogue 2026 in Singapore, Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al-Thani, Qatar's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs, engaged in pivotal discussions with officials from Singapore and Malaysia.
On Friday, Sheikh Saoud separately met with Singapore's Coordinating Minister for Public Services and Minister for Defense, Chan Chun Sing; Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan; Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs, K. Shanmugam; as well as Malaysia's Minister of Defense, Mohamed Khaled Nordin.
The dialogue focused on recent regional security advancements, bolstering military collaborations, and enhancing efforts to tackle current security challenges. The officials exchanged insights on important shared issues and sought further opportunities to enhance defense ties.
These meetings highlight the dedication of Qatar, Singapore, and Malaysia to fostering close collaboration in security matters and promoting regional stability through ongoing dialogue.
Attending the discussions were Qatar's Ambassador to Singapore, Abdulaziz bin Ahmed Almalki Al Jehani, and senior military officials from both nations.
