Qatar Engages in Arab League Discussions Preceding EU Summit in Jordan

Post by : Bianca Haleem

The State of Qatar participated in a coordination meeting with permanent representatives at the League of Arab States on Wednesday. This meeting was hosted at the General Secretariat's headquarters to lay the groundwork for the sixth Arab-European ministerial meeting, set to occur in Jordan from June 22 to 23.

HE Sheikh Jassim bin Abdul Rahman bin Mohammad Al-Thani, Qatar's Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the League, led the Qatari delegation.

During the session, representatives from Arab member states were briefed on the latest developments and logistical arrangements for the upcoming Arab-European meeting. Discussions concentrated on enhancing joint efforts and ensuring coordinated activities among Arab nations.

The meeting also evaluated a preliminary draft declaration anticipated to be ratified during the ministerial session. This declaration intends to tackle increasing regional challenges, primarily the repercussions of recent Iranian assaults directed at Gulf Cooperation Council nations and Jordan, viewed as a significant threat to both regional and global security.

The upcoming sixth Arab-European ministerial meeting underscores the ongoing commitment of both Arab nations and EU member states to bolster dialogue and increased collaboration across diverse sectors.
