Qatar’s Wasel Program Graduates 10 Tech Firms, Launches 4th Cycle

Qatar’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) has marked the completion of the third cycle of its Wasel program, with 10 promising technology companies graduating from the initiative.

At the same time, the ministry launched the fourth cycle of Wasel, welcoming 12 new technology companies to the program.

The initiative is part of MCIT’s efforts to help scalable technology companies grow, expand into new markets and strengthen Qatar’s position as a regional hub for innovation and digital entrepreneurship.

Technology Companies Cover Multiple Sectors

The 10 companies completing the third cycle developed and offered technology solutions across several sectors.

These included industrial technology, health technology, media technology, agricultural technology, e-commerce, enterprise technology and logistics.

The range of sectors represented in the program highlights the diversity of Qatar’s technology and digital entrepreneurship ecosystem. It also reflects Wasel’s role in helping companies develop solutions designed to address the requirements of different markets.

Wasel Companies Raise $13.8 Million

Across its first three cycles, Wasel has recorded a number of key results in supporting scalable technology companies.

Participating companies have collectively raised approximately USD 13.8 million in investments and completed 388 business-to-business (B2B) deals.

The companies also recorded an average 32 percent increase in revenue and received 569 hours of mentoring through the program.

Wasel reported an overall 89 percent satisfaction rate among participants, highlighting the value of the support and guidance provided through the initiative.

WareOne Expands Into Saudi Arabia

The third cycle also saw WareOne reach a major business milestone by expanding its operations into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

WareOne CEO Khalifa Al-Thani said that taking a logistics platform into new markets requires more than financing. He highlighted the importance of building a strategic network of relationships and having a clear understanding of target markets.

Al-Thani said Wasel provided WareOne with the practical framework and guidance needed to strengthen its operations and speed up its expansion into Saudi Arabia.

MCIT Highlights Support for Technology Companies

Faraj Jassim Abdullah, Director of the Digital Economy Department at MCIT, said the completion of Wasel’s third batch demonstrates the program’s tangible results in helping promising technology companies grow, expand and enter new markets.

He said MCIT supported participating companies through capacity building, guidance, investment-readiness support and connections with investors and strategic partners.

The ministry also helped companies develop growth plans, expansion strategies and approaches for entering new markets, Abdullah said.

Ministry of Commerce and Industry Strengthens Partnership

Ali Al Mawlawi, Director of Business Development at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, highlighted the ministry’s cooperation with Wasel as part of joint efforts to accelerate the growth of promising Qatari companies.

Through the partnership, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry will support entrepreneurs in capacity building, market-entry strategies, and regulatory and financial guidance.

Al Mawlawi said the cooperation is aimed at opening new opportunities for companies to achieve growth and success. He also stressed the ministry’s commitment to supporting startups, encouraging innovation and contributing to the implementation of Qatar’s Digital Agenda 2030.

Fourth Cycle Welcomes 12 New Companies

With the launch of its fourth cycle, Wasel is continuing its focus on supporting high-potential technology companies and strengthening their contribution to Qatar’s digital economy.

The program currently includes 29 companies and selects promising technology businesses through a competitive process.

Wasel is supported by strategic partners including the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Qatar Development Bank, Qatar Research, Development and Innovation Council, and the Investment Promotion Agency (Invest Qatar).

Wasel’s Role in Qatar’s Digital Economy

Wasel serves as a national platform for scalable technology companies, providing support to help businesses strengthen their institutional capabilities and establish their operations in Qatar.

The program’s results across three cycles demonstrate its focus on turning technology-driven ideas and solutions into sustainable business opportunities.
