The Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) took a proactive role in the 2026 ECOSOC Youth Forum hosted at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, reiterating Qatar’s commitment to empowering youth and pursuing sustainable development.
Beneath the theme “Innovate, Unite and Transform: Youth Shaping the Road to 2030,” this forum convened young leaders, representatives from UN member states, and global partners aiming to enhance progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Youth participation was underlined as essential in driving innovation, cultivating cooperation, and shaping equitable global policies.
QFFD’s involvement illustrated Qatar’s leadership in the Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) agenda. The fund highlighted the necessity of empowering young individuals as crucial players in peacebuilding, social solidarity, and enduring sustainable development efforts.
In conjunction with the forum, QFFD engaged in an Expert-to-Youth Dialogue, featured in a side event titled “From Doha to the World: Youth-led Partnerships to Advance the Youth, Peace and Security Agenda and Accelerate the SDGs.” This session, arranged by Qatar’s Ministry of Sports and Youth, assembled key stakeholders from governments, international organizations, and civil society to deliberate on collaborative strategies aimed at SDGs 6, 7, 9, 11, and 17.
Ibrahim Abdulla Al-Baker, a Global Advocacy Researcher representing QFFD, emphasized the organization's commitment to facilitating scalable, innovative solutions. He noted that initiatives driven by youth can greatly aid peacebuilding endeavors while enhancing international collaboration and resource mobilization.
This initiative also sets the stage for the forthcoming Arab Youth, Peace and Security Forum, scheduled in Doha for November 2026, further establishing Qatar as a center for discussions and collaboration on youth-led development and peace efforts.
QFFD reaffirmed its dedication to promoting inclusive, youth-centric solutions that aim to achieve the SDGs and create a more resilient, harmonious, and sustainable global future.
