Indian actor Ranveer Singh has responded to the ongoing controversy following the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) issuing a non-cooperation directive over his reported departure from Don 3. The situation has stirred considerable discussion in the film industry about professional obligations and contract adherence in Bollywood.
On May 25, 2026, FWICE announced its decision, citing Ranveer’s repeated absences from meetings despite several notices. The organization expressed that it sought to mediate both parties before making a resolution. This issue began when filmmaker Farhan Akhtar lodged a formal complaint regarding Ranveer's withdrawal.
In response, Ranveer’s representative released a statement highlighting the actor’s respect for the cinematic community and all involved with the Don series. The statement indicated that Ranveer chose to stay silent through the incident, believing that such matters ought to be resolved maturely and respectfully, rather than in the public eye.
The spokesperson added that even though various rumors had emerged online, Ranveer intended to avoid fueling any unnecessary speculation. His team confirmed that he remains dedicated to his ongoing projects while wishing the best for the Don franchise during this dispute.
FWICE Chief Advisor Ashok Pandit later addressed the press, clarifying that the complaint dates back to April 11, after Farhan Akhtar sought the federation's assistance. Pandit noted that producers alleged that Ranveer’s exit happened just weeks before filming was to commence, causing major project disruptions.
The federation indicated that both producers Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani presented their concerns at meetings—Ritesh attending in-person while Farhan participated virtually from London. FWICE officials asserted that they issued notices to Ranveer every few weeks requesting his presence, yet received no formal response throughout.
As the situation unfolded, Ashok Pandit stated that Ranveer's legal team questioned the FWICE's role right before the organization’s press conference. However, lacking direct engagement from the actor, the federation moved forward with its non-cooperation directive after internal discussions.
FWICE President BN Tiwari remarked that the matter extends beyond a simple disagreement between an actor and producers, as unexpected alterations to film schedules significantly impact hundreds of technicians and support staff reliant on steady projects for their income. He emphasized that no individual, no matter how prominent, should be exempt from industry rules.
This controversy has brought forth deeper discussions on accountability within Bollywood, potentially affecting future contracts and relationships between artists and producers. As of now, neither the producers of Don 3 nor Ranveer Singh have officially indicated any ongoing legal proceedings regarding the situation.
