In an impressive comeback from injury, Cristiano Ronaldo scored two goals to guide Al Nassr to a convincing 5-2 win against Al Najma in the Saudi Pro League.
Having been sidelined for almost a month, the Portuguese superstar marked his return with a strong performance. He had previously missed important matches for both his club and the Portugal national team, including friendly games against Mexico and the United States.
Though Al Nassr was the favored side, Al Najma stunned the home crowd by taking the lead just before the halftime whistle thanks to Rakan Al Tulayhi. However, Al Nassr quickly retaliated in stoppage time, with lifts from Abdullah Al Hamdan and Sadio Mane flipping the scoreline before the break.
Al Najma managed to equalize early in the second half through Felippe Cardoso, but the momentum was short-lived. Ronaldo converted a penalty in the 56th minute to regain the lead, adding another goal in the 73rd minute, showcasing his legendary finishing skills. Mane capped off the match with a goal during stoppage time.
This victory marked Al Nassr's 13th consecutive league win, solidifying their position atop the standings with 70 points, six ahead of rivals Al Hilal, who are next set to face Al Taawoun.
Ronaldo's return not only inspires his teammates but also highlights his lasting impact at 41, as they push for the coveted league title.
