Salalah Airport Retains Prestigious Skytrax Five-Star Rating

Post by : Shakul

Salalah Airport has successfully maintained its prestigious five-star rating from Skytrax World Airports for the second consecutive time, marking another major achievement for Oman’s aviation sector. The recognition places the airport among a select group of regional and international airports known for delivering exceptional passenger experiences and world-class service standards.

The latest rating reflects the extensive development and modernization efforts undertaken at the airport in recent years. Salalah Airport has continued to strengthen its operational readiness while upgrading facilities and services to accommodate the growing number of tourists and air travelers visiting Dhofar Governorate. The achievement further reinforces the airport’s role as one of Oman’s most important aviation gateways.

A series of improvement projects implemented by Oman Airports contributed significantly to maintaining the five-star status. One of the key developments was the launch of the new Majan Lounge earlier this year, providing travelers with enhanced comfort, premium hospitality services and a more enjoyable airport experience. The addition has expanded the range of facilities available to passengers and elevated service quality.

The airport also upgraded its family and children's entertainment area, creating a more welcoming environment for travelers of all ages. These enhancements have improved waiting experiences, particularly during the busy tourism seasons that attract thousands of visitors to Dhofar each year. Additional improvements in airport facilities and operational services have streamlined procedures and increased overall passenger satisfaction.

Salalah Airport has continued supporting Omani entrepreneurship by expanding retail and commercial offerings through the inclusion of emerging local brands and businesses. This initiative allows travelers to experience authentic Omani products while showcasing the country’s innovation and creativity. The strategy has enriched the airport’s shopping experience and strengthened its cultural identity.

The achievement comes as the airport intensifies preparations for the upcoming Dhofar Khareef season. Authorities are enhancing operational readiness, expanding flight networks and attracting additional international airlines to meet the expected increase in visitor numbers. These efforts aim to ensure a smooth and comfortable travel experience throughout the peak tourism period.

Officials from Oman Airports emphasized that maintaining the five-star rating reflects a strong commitment to quality, innovation and customer satisfaction. They noted that the accomplishment demonstrates the capability of Oman's airports to compete at the highest international standards while supporting national tourism and aviation goals. The recognition also highlights the effectiveness of strategic partnerships, modern infrastructure and skilled national talent in delivering world-class airport services.
