Saudi, Qatar Leaders Discuss Regional Security and Cooperation

Riyadh: Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan met with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani in Riyadh on Wednesday.

The meeting focused on strengthening the close and fraternal relations between Saudi Arabia and Qatar. The two ministers reviewed existing areas of cooperation and discussed ways to expand and develop bilateral ties in line with the aspirations of the leadership and people of both countries.

Regional Developments and De-escalation Efforts

During the talks, Prince Faisal bin Farhan and Sheikh Mohammed also discussed the latest political and security developments across the region. Particular attention was given to ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions and promoting regional security and stability.

The two sides emphasized the importance of continued coordination and regular consultations on regional issues. They also highlighted the need for greater unity in positions on current developments to support wider efforts to maintain peace, security and stability across the region.

Support for Diplomatic Mediation

The Saudi and Qatari foreign ministers reaffirmed their support for mediation efforts led by Qatar and Pakistan. They stressed the importance of diplomatic channels in resolving disputes and preventing further escalation.

Both ministers recognized the role of mediation in encouraging dialogue and advancing peaceful solutions to regional disputes.

The discussions also covered the importance of maintaining security, safety and freedom of navigation in the region’s vital maritime corridors.
