Shakira to Lead the Official FIFA World Cup 2026 Ceremony in Mexico City

Colombian pop sensation Shakira is set to perform the official song for the FIFA World Cup 2026, titled "Dai Dai", during the event's opening ceremony in Mexico City, as announced by FIFA on Friday.

Scheduled for Thursday at Estadio Azteca, the opening ceremony will start 90 minutes prior to the inaugural match between Mexico and South Africa. Shakira will be joined by Nigerian artist Burna Boy as they debut "Dai Dai" at this prestigious football gathering.

Released on May 14, "Dai Dai" translates from Italian to mean "let's go" or "come on", encapsulating the vibrant spirit of the tournament.

The event will also showcase performances from Colombian superstar J Balvin and South African singer Tyla, creating a rich blend of musical talents for the occasion.

Additionally, Shakira will perform during the World Cup 2026 final and make history with a halftime show at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, a first for the tournament.

FIFA has highlighted Shakira and Burna Boy as key performers to launch what promises to be one of the largest sporting spectacles globally.
