Sharjah Heritage Institute to Showcase at Cairo Book Fair 2026

Post by : Bianca Haleem

The Sharjah Institute for Heritage (SIH) will take part in the 57th Cairo International Book Fair, set to occur from 21 January to 3 February 2026 at the Egypt International Exhibition Centre in New Cairo. This significant event sees participation from various government entities and both Arab and international publishers.

Dr Abdulaziz Al Musallam, the Chairman of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, expressed that the Institute is dedicated to maintaining an enduring presence at the Cairo International Book Fair, recognized as one of the Middle East's foremost cultural gatherings, attracting nearly two million attendees annually.

He noted that SIH’s involvement underscores its goal to conserve both tangible and intangible cultural heritage, seamlessly integrating heritage with modern life while promoting it through research, publications, and cultural initiatives. The Institute is known for organizing and participating in various heritage exhibitions, festivals, and events globally.

Dr Al Musallam emphasized that SIH has significantly contributed to enhancing the heritage sector by backing researchers, promoting heritage studies, and augmenting Emirati and Arab libraries with essential books, journals, and periodicals.

He further highlighted the Sharjah Government’s strong commitment to the significance of books, knowledge industries, and fostering a reading culture, aligning with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.

During the fair, the SIH pavilion will highlight over 1,000 publications that address diverse cultural heritage themes, aimed at elevating awareness and preserving knowledge of heritage.

The Institute will also present a cultural program featuring panel discussions on:

  • The shared cultural heritage between Emirati and Egyptian communities

  • Challenges faced by heritage literature

  • Incorporation of Egyptian heritage in SIH publications

  • The future of specialized institutional publishing

The program will also include heritage reading sessions in collaboration with the Book Club, as well as book-signing events featuring newly released titles.
