UAE Dispatches 100 Tonnes of Aid to Gaza Through Sharjah

Post by : Bianca Haleem

In a significant humanitarian gesture, a relief flight has successfully delivered 100 tonnes of crucial food supplies from Sharjah International Airport to the Gaza Strip, enhancing the UAE’s relief initiatives.

This operation was executed under the “Humaid Air Bridge” initiative, endorsed by Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, alongside the humanitarian campaign Operation Chivalrous Knight 3.

Relief officials revealed that this initiative seeks to alleviate the escalating struggles faced by many families in Gaza, whose humanitarian conditions are deteriorating. The operation encompasses various supportive measures beyond just food provisions.

Among the efforts, a UAE field hospital and a floating hospital in Egypt’s Al Arish have been deployed, equipped with a combined capacity of 100 beds and staffed by specialized medical personnel. Additionally, six desalination plants have been installed to ensure daily access to clean drinking water.

Officials emphasized that the total humanitarian assistance provided by the UAE to Gaza has surpassed 122,000 tonnes, amounting to over $3 billion, illustrating the depth and continuity of its aid.

The International Charity Organisation is actively involved as well, coordinating air and sea relief missions to deliver vital supplies to at-risk communities.

To further bolster these efforts, an aid vessel carrying food and supplies valued at more than AED 8 million is also set to be dispatched under Ajman’s humanitarian initiatives.

The UAE is enhancing its relief operations via cohesive air and sea logistics, reaffirming its commitment to assisting affected populations in Gaza during this ongoing crisis.
