Sidra Medicine Achieves ZEISS Reference Center Status in Qatar

Sidra Medicine, part of the Qatar Foundation, has been distinguished as a ZEISS labs@location Reference Customer via its Advanced Imaging Core (AIC), heralding a significant milestone in advanced medical imaging and biomedical research.

This accolade secures Sidra Medicine's position alongside a select cadre of prominent international research hospitals, academic medical institutions, and scientific organizations celebrated for their excellence in advanced microscopy and imaging technologies.

The ZEISS labs@location Program fosters collaboration between ZEISS and premier laboratories worldwide. This initiative is dedicated to advancing imaging applications, facilitating scientific training, delivering expert demonstrations, and enhancing knowledge sharing in imaging science.

Abbirami Sathappan, the lead of the Advanced Imaging Core at Sidra Medicine, remarked that this recognition showcases the expertise, strong infrastructure, and collaborative research environment cultivated within the center. She emphasized that this designation will enhance the institution's capacity to empower researchers and clinicians with imaging workflows that expedite scientific discoveries and impactful research.

Sidra Medicine's Advanced Imaging Core underwent an evaluation which underscored its capabilities in advanced imaging, operational excellence, scientific prowess, and high-level training and knowledge transfer.

The facility also garnered acknowledgment for facilitating complex imaging applications, publication-grade scientific research, and collaborative biomedical initiatives.

Prof. Khalid Fakhro, Chief Research Officer at Sidra Medicine, expressed pride in this international recognition, noting that the institution consistently invests in cutting-edge research platforms and advanced testing capacities that directly enhance patient care and foster medical innovation.

He reiterated that the ZEISS recognition bolsters Sidra Medicine’s mission to refine diagnostics and enrich understanding of rare and complex diseases, ultimately facilitating more precise treatments and improved patient outcomes.
