Investigation Launched into Fire Aboard Ever Lenient in Singapore

Post by : Shakul

In Singapore, officials have started an investigation following a fire that erupted on the container ship Ever Lenient, registered in London, at Pasir Panjang Terminal. Thanks to rapid response measures, safety concerns were alleviated as the fire was controlled, leaving port operations unaffected.

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore reported that the fire has been extinguished and an inquiry is underway to uncover the cause. Collaboration with relevant agencies is ongoing to thoroughly assess the situation.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force efficiently led firefighting efforts, quickly arriving at the scene of the incident. The MPA also dispatched patrol boats to secure adjacent waters and utilized drones to monitor the situation from above.

Authorities emphasized that cooling operations are still in effect to eliminate any residual heat, thereby preventing potential rekindling of the fire. Such measures are standard protocol following incidents of this nature.

PSA Singapore has been instrumental in safely unloading affected containers from the vessel. Officials have assured that all necessary safety precautions are in place to protect personnel and ensure uninterrupted activities at the terminal.

The MPA stated that they were notified of the situation promptly and dispatched emergency teams—including three patrol boats and firefighting crews—immediately. Their prompt action was crucial in effectively containing the fire.

Ongoing investigations are expected to reveal more information, with authorities aiming to provide further updates regarding the fire's cause as details emerge.
