Space42 is actively bolstering the UAE’s standing in the global space tech arena by developing sophisticated local capabilities in satellite manufacturing, artificial intelligence, and Earth observation technologies.
During the ‘Make it in the Emirates 2026’ event, Hasan Al Hosani shared insights with the Emirates News Agency (WAM), emphasizing the company's commitment to transforming the UAE’s space tech ambitions into actionable industrial, operational, and sovereign capabilities domestically.
Al Hosani explained that Space42 is constructing an inclusive space ecosystem designed to create, assemble, integrate, test, and operate cutting-edge space technologies within the UAE. Additionally, the company is leveraging AI to turn satellite data into actionable insights for governments, businesses, and critical sectors.
He underscored the significance of the Foresight constellation project, noting that it embodies Space42’s long-term strategy to localize key elements of the space tech value chain in the UAE, including assembly, integration, and testing of advanced Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellites.
Al Hosani also highlighted the inauguration of Space42 Space Systems in Abu Dhabi, which is poised to be the region’s first facility dedicated to the Assembly, Integration, and Testing (AIT) of Earth observation satellites.
According to him, the launch of Foresight-3, Foresight-4, and Foresight-5 signifies a monumental milestone for the UAE space sector as these are the first SAR satellites to be integrated and tested on UAE soil, demonstrating the nation’s evolution from knowledge transfer towards genuine industrial and technological competency.
He remarked that these initiatives are pivotal in nurturing advanced national expertise in Earth observation technologies while enhancing sovereign capabilities within the space domain.
Regarding localization efforts, Al Hosani stated that Space42 envisions localization as a long-term commitment aimed at cultivating sustainable industrial expertise and production capabilities across the value chain.
The company is dedicated to expanding local skills in satellite design, development, and operational fields, promoting the growth of Emirati technical talent, and fostering collaboration with industry partners, government entities, and private firms.
Al Hosani elaborated that artificial intelligence significantly influences Space42’s operations via its GIQ geospatial intelligence platform, which aggregates and analyzes geospatial data from satellites, high-altitude platforms, and terrestrial sensors.
These AI-driven technologies find applications in disaster management, infrastructure oversight, urban planning, environmental monitoring, and national security.
He noted that these advanced capabilities not only allow for quicker and more precise decision-making but also enhance operational efficiency, further solidifying the UAE’s position as a central hub for the development and export of Earth observation technologies.
