The Ministry of Labour in Thailand kicked off a significant employment fair in Surin Province, intended to enhance job prospects and strengthen the workforce in the northeastern area. The event, titled “JOB FAIR @ Surin: Great Jobs in My Hometown”, hosts over 50 prominent companies presenting more than 5,000 job vacancies across varied sectors.
Chulaphan Amornvivat inaugurated the event at the Lumpini Grand Hall in Surin, with the participation of key officials from the Ministry of Labour, local governmental bodies, and educational institutions. This initiative aims to connect employers directly with job seekers and fresh graduates.
According to officials from the Labour Ministry, this fair is tailored to provide job access for various groups, including new graduates, the unemployed, career switchers, and marginalized communities. The potential for growth in Surin’s economy, particularly in agriculture, tourism, services, and food processing, is emphasized, as these sectors are anticipated to create new job opportunities in the near future.
Minister Chulaphan pointed out that the labour landscape in Thailand is swiftly transforming with the rise of the digital economy. He indicated that contemporary industries demand workers equipped with technological, linguistic, and professional competencies rather than solely traditional skills. Thus, the government is prioritizing up-skilling and re-skilling initiatives to prepare the workforce for evolving demands.
The two-day event also included career development activities such as practical training for 25 independent professions, virtual reality learning opportunities, overseas employment consultations, and open-house programs from 11 educational institutions. Organizers expressed the aim of inspiring youth and helping them explore modern career paths and entrepreneurship.
Attendees had the chance to visit exhibitions on innovative employment, engage directly with potential employers for interviews, and receive career advice from labour officials. The fair also highlighted OTOP products, local enterprises, and government-supported affordable goods, contributing to grassroots economic development.
Officials noted that this fair acts as a vital platform to reduce job search expenses and enhance employment access for residents in rural areas. Authorities are optimistic that such endeavors will bolster local economies and alleviate migration pressures on larger urban centers.
The Labour Ministry conveyed that this initiative signifies broader national aims of enhancing quality employment, boosting workforce competitiveness, and fostering sustainable economic growth in regional provinces across Thailand.
