ADX and Amman Stock Exchange Unveil Cross-Border Trading Link Through Tabadul

Post by : Bianca Haleem

The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) Group, in conjunction with Jordan's capital market entities, has launched a significant electronic trading link between the ADX and the Amman Stock Exchange via the Tabadul platform.

The launch was celebrated at an official event in Amman, attended by key financial leaders from both nations. Prominent figures included Ghannam Al Mazrouei, Chairman of ADX; Abdullah Salem Al Nuaimi, Group Chief Executive Officer of ADX; Emad Abu Haltem, Chairman of the Jordan Securities Commission; Mazen Al Wathaifi, Chief Executive Officer of the Amman Stock Exchange; and Sara Al Tarawneh, Chief Executive Officer of the Securities Depository Centre.

This new electronic connection symbolizes a major advancement in fostering financial collaboration between the UAE and Jordan. It is crafted to promote regional market synergy, broaden investment prospects, and enable traders to access both exchanges through authorized brokerage firms.

During his remarks, Emad Abu Haltem emphasized that the initiative signifies a strategic leap towards enhanced integration across Arab financial markets. He remarked that this venture underscores robust economic relations between Jordan and the UAE, anticipated to enhance market efficiency, boost liquidity, and afford investors greater access to diversified opportunities.

Abdullah Salem Al Nuaimi pointed out the vital role the Tabadul platform plays in linking regional financial markets. He stated that the platform grants investors and brokerage firms secure and efficient channels to access active exchanges, thus augmenting the attractiveness of capital markets in the region.

Mazen Al Wathaifi noted that the electronic link supports the Amman Stock Exchange's objective to foster partnerships with both regional and international markets. He asserted that this initiative will likely attract both Arab and foreign investments, enhance liquidity, and facilitate a knowledge exchange among financial entities.

Sara Al Tarawneh expressed that the agreement permits seamless trading for investors between the two markets within a robust legal and regulatory framework. She highlighted that settlement, clearing, and post-trade services will be conducted with utmost efficiency, accuracy, and dependability.

At the ceremony, officials showcased the functionalities of the Tabadul platform, culminating in the ringing of the opening bell to signify the commencement of the electronic connection. The first successful transaction between the ADX and the Amman Stock Exchange occurred during this launch.

The event concluded with the exchange of commemorative shields and group photos, underscoring the strategic partnership between the UAE and Jordan in the financial, economic, and investment arenas.

Launched in 2022, the Tabadul platform seeks to interconnect regional stock exchanges and streamline cross-market trading. It allows brokerage firms and traders to access various participating exchanges via a unified structure.

Current members of the Tabadul platform comprise the Muscat Stock Exchange, Bahrain Bourse, Astana International Exchange, Kazakhstan Stock Exchange, Armenia Securities Exchange, the Amman Stock Exchange, and the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange.

This launch follows the electronic linking agreement finalized on December 11, 2024, in Abu Dhabi between ADX, the Amman Stock Exchange, and the Securities Depository Center, paving the path for Jordan's involvement in the Tabadul platform, which supports ongoing initiatives to boost market efficiency, strengthen regional alliances, and expand investment possibilities for stakeholders in both countries.
