Tragic Fire Claims Life of Telangana Student in Germany

Tragic Fire Claims Life of Telangana Student in Germany

Post by : Meena Hassan

What was meant to be a joyful return for the Sankranti festival has turned into profound grief for a family from Telangana. Hruthik Reddy, a 25-year-old student from Malkapur village in Jangaon district, tragically lost his life in a fire incident in Germany on New Year's Day.

Reports reveal a significant fire erupted late Wednesday night at his Berlin apartment. As flames engulfed the building, Hruthik attempted to escape from his upper-floor residence. In his desperate move to flee, he jumped and sustained severe head injuries. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, medical personnel were unable to save him, resulting in his death during treatment.

Hruthik had relocated to Germany in June 2023 to pursue a Master's degree in Magdeburg after completing engineering studies at Vaagdevi College of Engineering in 2022. He opted not to return home during the Dasara festival and aimed to visit Telangana in the second week of January to celebrate Sankranti with his family.

His untimely passing has plunged his village into mourning, with family, friends, and locals grappling with this shocking loss. The family has reached out to the Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian Embassy in Germany to expedite the process of repatriating his remains for final rites.

German authorities have commenced an investigation to determine the precise cause of the fire.

This heart-wrenching incident has once again highlighted safety concerns for Indian students residing abroad. This follows another tragic case involving a 24-year-old woman from the same district who lost her life in a house fire in the United States while pursuing higher education.
