Thailand Kicks Off Campaign to End Child Labour

Post by : Shakul

The Department of Labour Protection and Welfare in Thailand has launched the “End Child Labour 2026” initiative as part of its commitment to eliminate child labour and safeguard children's rights. This nationwide awareness campaign will run throughout June, encouraging engagement from businesses, educational institutions, students, employers, and the public.

Rear Admiral Saroj Khomkai, Director-General of the Department, emphasized that the campaign coincides with World Day Against Child Labour, which occurs annually on June 12. Authorities aim to enhance public understanding and foster collaboration from all sectors to create a child labour-free environment across Thailand.

Taking place from June 1 to June 30, 2026, the campaign embraces the theme “End Child Labour 2026.” Supporters are urged to take photos with the campaign's official symbol at workplaces, schools, or community venues. Additionally, they can produce awareness materials, including posters and short videos, to champion the cause against child labour.

A significant public event for World Day Against Child Labour is set for June 12 at Surasakmontri School, commencing at 1:30 PM. This event will also be broadcast live on the Department of Labour's official Facebook page, allowing nationwide virtual participation.

The department invites students, university organizations, employers, and other groups to showcase their campaign efforts on social media using the hashtag #EndChildLabour2026. Officials believe social media engagement will enhance awareness and foster greater public involvement in the fight against exploitation of children.

Participants have the opportunity to submit documentation of their activities or online efforts via a Google Form from June 12 to July 1, 2026. Those who meet the campaign's benchmarks will be issued electronic certificates from the Department in recognition of their contributions.

The Labour Department has underscored that eliminating child labour necessitates joint efforts across all societal sectors. Ensuring children grow up in secure and nurturing surroundings is crucial for Thailand's future progress and the establishment of a more equitable and responsible society.
