Post by : Shakul

High-level talks in Bangkok have brought Thailand and Peru closer to finalizing a Free Trade Agreement, with Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul meeting Peruvian Ambassador Cecilia Zunilda Galarreta Bazán during her farewell visit.

During this meeting, both nations reflected on their 60-year partnership, underscoring a commitment to enhancing diplomatic and economic ties.

Officials noted the significant progress in negotiating the Thailand-Peru Free Trade Agreement and expressed optimism for an official signing before the end of the year. The leaders are hopeful that this agreement will boost trade and investment opportunities.

Food security and agricultural collaboration topped the agenda, with both countries recognizing their rich agricultural potential and the prospects for increased food trade.

Prime Minister Anutin emphasized Thailand’s readiness to serve as a food supply hub for Peru and other South American nations, fostering long-term economic unity.

The discussion also touched on the Chancay Port project, which aims to enhance logistics and supply chain connectivity between South America and ASEAN markets, with Thailand positioned as a significant entry point for trade in the region.

The meeting concluded with the Prime Minister lauding the ambassador's efforts in strengthening bilateral ties and wishing her success in her future diplomatic endeavors while reaffirming Thailand's bond with Peru.
