Thailand’s PM Anutin Supports WorldPride 2030 Initiative

Post by : Shakul

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has affirmed Thailand's dedication to gender equality by endorsing the initiative to host WorldPride 2030. At a Pride Month celebration held on June 2, 2026, at Government House, he was presented with a “Road to Bangkok WorldPride 2030” pin by representatives from the Pride City Network.

This gesture symbolizes Thailand's ongoing commitment to elevate equal rights and social acceptance for individuals of all gender identities. The event served to enhance awareness about the significance of diversity and the need to build a society that honors every person, irrespective of gender.

As reported by government officials, this initiative is part of a wider strategy led by the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security in collaboration with various partner organizations. The goal is to inspire local and provincial administrations to implement policies that foster gender equality and nurture inclusive communities throughout the nation.

On May 28, 2026, a notable milestone was achieved when a memorandum of understanding was signed by participating agencies to set up pilot provinces and cities aimed at promoting gender equality. With strong backing from 57 provinces and one city, this agreement signals a strong commitment to inclusive social progress.

Officials asserted that local administrations' enthusiastic response underscores a collective determination to turn gender equality policies into reality. These provinces are expected to launch programs that advance equal opportunities, combat discrimination, and promote greater acceptance of gender diversity.

Throughout June, various Pride Month activities are being coordinated by public agencies, civil society organizations, and private sector partners across Thailand. These events are intended to celebrate diversity, highlight LGBTQ+ rights, and strengthen community engagement nationwide.

Thailand’s ambition to host WorldPride 2030 is perceived as a chance to showcase its commitment to human rights, equality, and cultural openness globally. Advocates believe the successful hosting of this event would not only elevate international visibility but also propel enduring progress towards a more inclusive and fair society.
