Thailand Raises Welfare Card Payments to Support Citizens

Post by : Shakul

The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society has confirmed that the rumors regarding an increase in welfare card payments are accurate. Eligible Thai citizens will receive an enhanced payment of 400 baht for a limited period.

This adjustment will take effect from April 13 to May 12, 2026. The temporary measure is intended to assist vulnerable groups who are grappling with rising living expenses, particularly due to global economic challenges from ongoing international conflicts.

The cabinet approved this decision on April 11, 2026, as part of a comprehensive initiative to alleviate financial pressures for approximately 13.22 million welfare card recipients. The spending cap for essential goods has been increased from 300 baht to 400 baht for this month.

Officials have reported that the Thailand Anti-Fake News Center has verified this announcement, as it actively monitors misinformation spreading online. The agency has flagged thousands of messages for authenticity checks, reflecting the growing issue of fake news.

Authorities have also identified numerous misleading claims on social media, including fabricated job opportunities and financial scams, which further emphasizes the need for vigilance when sharing information.

The ministry has encouraged the public to trust only verified sources for accurate updates and warned against disseminating unverified information. It underscored that misinformation can result in confusion, financial harm, and broader societal ramifications.

Citizens are urged to report any suspicious content using official channels, including the hotline and the Anti-Fake News Center’s website, to help uphold accurate information dissemination.
