Exciting No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu Championship Round Launches in Fujairah

Post by : Bianca Haleem

Fujairah: The much-anticipated Round 3 of the Khaled Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship (No-Gi) is set to commence this Saturday in Fujairah. This event represents a significant juncture in the current season, with premier clubs and athletes vying for crucial standings.

This championship plays a vital role in promoting the growth of jiu-jitsu within the UAE, hosting regular matches and implementing strategic initiatives aimed at boosting participation and elevating the sport's overall caliber.

Athletes now face a key chance to gauge their physical and technical prowess. The fast-paced No-Gi matches require keen agility, quick thinking, and unwavering concentration. Competitors will refine their skills while navigating varied fighting styles.

Abdullah Salem Al Zaabi, Director of Marketing and Corporate Communication at the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, spoke about the evident uptick in participation, attributing this growth to persistent efforts aimed at expanding opportunities within the sport.

“The surge in participants across championship rounds signifies the sport’s evolving nature. It not only enhances competition but also offers a professional stage for skill development,” he noted.

Theyab Alnuaimi of Al Ain Club, competing in the 62kg brown belt adult category, shared insights on the challenges posed by the No-Gi format. He stressed that the rapid pace and intensity of these matches require constant vigilance, as even small missteps can heavily influence outcomes.

“This format demands us to remain alert at all times. It also allows for testing our skills against diverse opponents, which is invaluable for our growth,” he added.

The championship's continuous support for amateur and professional athletes establishes it as a cornerstone event in the UAE's jiu-jitsu scene, enhancing athlete preparation for both regional and international contests.
