At the 11th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, President and General Secretary To Lam delivered a pivotal keynote at the National Convention Center in Hanoi. Officially commencing on May 12, this Congress gathered senior officials, delegates, intellectuals, religious leaders, and Vietnamese communities abroad to chart the nation's path for the upcoming 2026–2031 term.
In his speech, To Lam emphasized that national unity is essential for Vietnam's development and stability. He stated the nation is entering a transformative phase of growth and modernization, following the successful conclusion of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party. To Lam highlighted the need for a focus on prosperity, innovation, democracy, and enhanced public participation, with citizens at the heart of all reforms and policies.
The leader reiterated the role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front as a crucial link between the government and citizens. He called for significant reforms in the organization’s operational methods, advocating for improved social oversight, increased public dialogue, and enhanced use of digital platforms for gathering citizens’ feedback. Furthermore, To Lam pointed out the necessity of boosting transparency, safeguarding public interests, and elevating accountability within state institutions.
The address heavily underscored the need for social cohesion amid rapid economic and technological advancements. He noted the swift evolution of Vietnamese society, marked by urban growth, the emergence of new industries, and altering social dynamics. Recognizing that traditional public mobilization techniques have become outdated, he urged the Front to modernize its outreach with effective programs and technology-led communication strategies.
To Lam commended recent initiatives by the Fatherland Front and social organizations aimed at assisting impoverished communities, disaster victims, and vulnerable groups nationwide. He highlighted successes like eradicating temporary housing, aiding flood victims, and conducting welfare campaigns that aim to enhance the lives of countless individuals. Such efforts, he stated, embody Vietnam's legacy of solidarity, compassion, and shared responsibility.
The President cautioned that the organization needs to candidly confront its shortcomings, such as bureaucratic inefficiencies, ineffective oversight, and limited digital advancements. He urged officials to stay connected with the people's needs, rejecting a reliance on merely administrative processes. Instead, leaders must listen attentively to citizens, address issues promptly, and build a trustworthy relationship between the public and the government.
The Congress aims to finalize significant resolutions and strategic plans for the Vietnam Fatherland Front over the next five years. Leaders aspire for this event to fortify national unity, enhance governance, and support Vietnam's long-term visions for sustainable development, economic progress, and global integration by 2045.
