Post by : Bianca Haleem

On Friday night, in Jaipur, Rajasthan, a fast-moving Audi crashed into pedestrians, resulting in the death of one person and injuries to 15 others.

Law enforcement reported that the high-end vehicle lost control, initially hitting a road divider before barreling through food stalls and carts for about 30 meters. It finally collided with a tree, coming to a stop. Multiple parked cars were also damaged, leaving the Audi significantly wrecked.

Images from the scene displayed broken food carts littering the roadway, showcasing the incident's severity.

Sixteen individuals were struck and taken to a local medical facility, with four suffering serious injuries and subsequently transferred to Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital for specialized care. One of the injured, Ramesh Bairwa from Bhilwara, unfortunately, died after receiving treatment.

Officials indicated that four occupants were present in the vehicle, all believed to be under alcohol's influence during the event. One suspect has been detained while the other three fled and are being sought.

The driver, identified as Dinesh Ranwan from Churu district, has had the vehicle impounded as part of the ongoing investigation.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma expressed condolences over the tragedy and commanded that all necessary medical care be provided to the injured. Deputy Chief Minister Premchand Bairwa and Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar visited the hospital to monitor the victims' conditions.

Police stated that further inquiries are ongoing, with strict measures promised against those accountable.
