Fatal Train-Bus Collision in Bangkok Claims 8 Lives, Over 20 Injured

Post by : Bianca Haleem

A tragic incident unfolded in Bangkok on Saturday afternoon when a cargo train collided with a public bus, leading to at least eight fatalities and injuring more than 20 other individuals.

Local sources indicate that this grave accident occurred near an airport rail link station in the city's central area. Emergency responders from the Erawan Medical Center have confirmed the death toll, with several injured passengers transferred to nearby hospitals for medical care.

Social media platforms displayed videos capturing numerous vehicles halted at a railway crossing prior to the incident. Suddenly, a cargo train barreled into an orange public bus that was at the front of the queue. The force of the collision caused other vehicles to be dragged along the tracks, propelling the bus into a nearby expressway pillar.

Moments after the crash, the bus ignited, becoming fully engulfed in flames. Several motorbikes and their riders were also thrown onto the road due to the collision's impact.

Swiftly, rescue teams and firefighters arrived at the scene and worked to extinguish the blaze. Subsequent images revealed rescuers entering the charred remains of the bus to search for any victims and survivors.

Authorities have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this tragic collision, with further updates anticipated as rescue and recovery efforts continue.
