Chhattisgarh: An explosion at a steel plant in Balodabazar–Bhatapara district led to the deaths of six workers and injuries to five others on Thursday, according to officials.
The incident occurred in the dust settling chamber of the facility, resulting in tragic fatalities and severe burns. District Collector Deepak Soni reported that six workers died at the scene, while five others were critically injured.
Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal has reached out to district officials, ensuring that injured personnel will receive optimal medical care. He also mandated a comprehensive investigation into the explosion and reaffirmed the need for strict penalties for those at fault.
Emergency response teams, including police and administrative officials, arrived promptly to commence rescue efforts. The injured were swiftly transported to the Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Sciences (CIMS) in Bilaspur for treatment.
The state government has pledged unwavering support to the families of those who lost their lives.
