US President Donald Trump said Iran having ballistic missiles would not be unfair if other countries in the region also possess similar weapons.
Speaking to reporters in Paris on Wednesday, Trump said that if countries like Saudi Arabia and Qatar have missiles, then Iran could also have them in a balanced way.
Trump said, “If other countries have them, it's a little bit unfair for them not to have some,” while discussing Iran’s military capabilities and regional security.
The statement came after the United States reached an agreement with Iran to end their nearly four-month conflict in the region.
Trump also said that the US military would remain in the Gulf region “for a while” even after the deal with Tehran, indicating that Washington will continue maintaining its presence in the area.
The comments have drawn attention as discussions continue over Iran’s defence capabilities and security concerns in the Middle East.
