UAE Issues Travel Advisory for Ebola-Affected Regions

UAE Issues Travel Advisory for Ebola-Affected Regions

Post by : Bianca Haleem

The UAE has officially cautioned its citizens against travel to Uganda, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DR Congo), and South Sudan unless necessary. This alert is issued in light of the continuing health concerns surrounding the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) within specific areas of East and Central Africa.

In a notice released on Saturday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation emphasized the importance of postponing non-essential travel to these regions and staying informed about the developments regarding the Ebola outbreak.

This advisory reflects the UAE government's dedication to safeguarding the wellbeing of its citizens while they are abroad. Authorities are closely monitoring the evolving situation and providing resources to assist travelers in making educated decisions.

Emirati nationals currently in Uganda, DR Congo, or South Sudan are advised to apply utmost caution and adhere to local health regulations. The ministry also recommended staying vigilant and keeping abreast of updates related to the virus's spread.

Additionally, the Ministry urged citizens in these nations to register with the "Twajudi" service, which enables UAE authorities to maintain communication with citizens overseas and extend support during emergencies.

The ministry reiterated that Emiratis abroad can reach out for help through their emergency hotline if they face urgent needs or situations requiring a quick response.

This travel warning aligns with ongoing containment efforts by health authorities across East and Central Africa to manage the Ebola outbreaks and curb the virus's transmission. Governments and health organizations are diligently tracking updates and implementing health safety measures.

The UAE government reaffirms its commitment to ensuring the safety and health of its citizens, urging travelers to heed official advice before making travel plans to these impacted areas.
