UAE and Montenegro Enhance Parliamentary Relations at PAM Summit

Post by : Bianca Haleem

The inaugural Summit of Speakers and Presidents of Parliament of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM) Member and Partner States took place in Budva, Montenegro, where key parliamentary figures from the UAE and Montenegro convened to fortify bilateral relations.

Maryam Majid bin Theneya, the Second Deputy Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC) and head of the FNC Parliamentary Division at PAM, engaged with Dejan Đurović, who leads the Montenegrin Parliament's delegation to PAM, on the sidelines of the event.

During their discussions, Maryam Majid bin Theneya praised the summit’s excellent organization and expressed gratitude for the warm welcome offered by Montenegro's Parliament to all attending delegations. She underscored the escalating partnership between the UAE and Montenegro and stressed the necessity of amplifying parliamentary cooperation, particularly focusing on economic and investment realms.

The dialogue also covered the critical need to safeguard freedom of navigation and secure international waterways. Both parties acknowledged that ongoing regional tensions impact not only local security and stability but also have more extensive consequences for global energy markets and international trade.

Dejan Đurović remarked on the essential role of dialogue and diplomacy in addressing regional crises and preventing further escalation. He further emphasized education's role in fostering values of dialogue, mutual understanding, and peaceful relationships among nations.

This meeting exemplified a mutual commitment to enhancing parliamentary collaboration and bolstering stability through diplomatic efforts.
