Expanded Nestlé Baby Formula Recall in the UAE Due to Bacteria Concerns

Post by : Bianca Haleem

The UAE has expanded its recall of the Nestlé baby formula S26 AR GOLD, continuing its precautionary measures due to potential bacterial contamination.

As confirmed by the Emirates Drug Establishment (EDE), the affected formula is generally used under medical guidance. Specific batches 5185080661, 5271080661, and 5125080661 are included in this recall.

The recall was prompted by the detection of Bacillus cereus in a production component, a bacterium capable of producing the cereulide toxin, associated with foodborne illnesses like nausea, vomiting, and stomach pains.

EDE reported that all affected batches within distributor warehouses have been secured, with ongoing efforts to withdraw any remaining products from both online and physical retail spaces.

In an effort to assist consumers, Nestlé has rolled out digital tools allowing customers in the UAE to verify product batch numbers and request refunds or replacements if necessary.

Previously, EDE had already enacted a recall on various Nestlé infant formula products, including NAN Comfort 1, NAN OPTIPRO 1, NAN SUPREME PRO 1, 2, and 3, S-26 Ultima 1, 2, and 3, as well as Alfamino.

This recent recall is part of ongoing quality assurance testing performed by UAE authorities on Nestlé infant formula products to ensure consumer safety.
