UAE Advocates Global Collaboration on Muslim Brotherhood at EU Symposium

The European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR) Party convened a conference aimed at understanding the implications of the Muslim Brotherhood and political Islam, gathering Members of the European Parliament from diverse political factions, along with esteemed officials like His Excellency Mohammed Ismail Al-Sahlawi, the UAE Ambassador to the EU, Belgium, and Luxembourg.

During discussions, the urgent challenges posed by the Muslim Brotherhood and its ramifications on European societies took center stage. Speakers underscored the group’s recruitment tactics and its suspected role in threatening security and stability. Multiple attendees commended the UAE’s position in classifying the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization, urging the global community to adopt the UAE’s insights on countering extremism.

Ambassador Mohammed Ismail Al-Sahlawi, while addressing the conference, reaffirmed the UAE’s steadfast dedication to eradicating terrorism, extremism, and violence. He noted that the UAE actively counters efforts by Muslim Brotherhood-linked entities to instigate instability and security threats worldwide.

He highlighted the UAE’s strategy of fostering coexistence, tolerance, and peace, firmly denouncing all forms of violence and radical ideologies. He insisted on the necessity for enhanced international and regional partnerships to take effective measures against terrorism and extremist beliefs.

The ambassador applauded recent decisions by various countries designating certain branches of the Muslim Brotherhood as terrorist entities, attributing these decisions to credible reports associating those branches with illicit operations, extremist messaging, and ties to terrorist groups.

According to Al-Sahlawi, such steps bolster the ongoing global efforts aimed at preempting violence and curbing actions that jeopardize safety and tranquility. He reiterated the UAE’s commitment to all international initiatives focused on combating terrorism, extremism, and promoting peace, security, and stability on both regional and international fronts.

The symposium closed with participants emphasizing the critical need for ongoing collaboration among nations and institutions to effectively tackle extremist threats and ensure the security of societies everywhere.
