UAE Condemns Iran Attack, Summons Ambassador

Post by : Bianca Haleem

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has summoned Reza Ameri, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Arab Emirates, and delivered a strongly worded protest note over what it described as terrorist attacks and assaults targeting the UAE.

According to the Ministry, the targeting of the UAE’s territory represents a serious violation of its sovereignty and poses a direct threat to national security. The UAE said the attacks breach international conventions, United Nations resolutions, and established global norms.

During the meeting, Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, Minister of State, expressed the UAE’s firm rejection of any explanations or justifications offered by the Iranian government regarding the escalation. He stated that civilian sites were targeted, including residential areas, airports, ports, and other service facilities, putting innocent lives at risk.

Al Marar stressed that the escalation was irresponsible and ignored the UAE’s clear stance that its territory would not be used for any military action against Iran. He said the attacks contradict the principles of good neighbourliness and the Charter of the United Nations.

He further warned that the incident could have serious consequences for bilateral relations, affecting political, economic, and commercial ties between the two countries.

The UAE also demanded that its sovereignty be fully respected and called for an immediate and unconditional end to the attacks. The Ministry reaffirmed that the UAE reserves the right to respond in line with international law and its legal rights.
