Dubai: His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Ports and Borders Security Council, attended the second day of the UAE SWAT Challenge 2026, held at Training City in Al Ruwayyah, Dubai.
During the visit, Sheikh Mansoor was accompanied by Lieutenant General Abdulla Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, along with a number of senior officers. Commanders of tactical teams from different countries were also present at the event.
Hostage Rescue Challenge in Focus
Sheikh Mansoor observed the participation of several teams in the ‘Hostage Rescue’ challenge, one of the major categories of the competition.
The challenge requires extremely high levels of precision, coordination, and tactical readiness. The scenario begins with a sniper from each team engaging a target from the top of a tower. After this, the remaining team members enter the building, engage multiple targets with accuracy, and safely extract a simulated hostage represented by a heavy dummy.
109 Teams from 48 Countries Participate
The seventh edition of the UAE SWAT Challenge saw the participation of 109 tactical and special police teams from 48 countries, reflecting the event’s growing international stature and importance.
Praise for Dubai Police and Event Growth
Sheikh Mansoor praised the efforts of Dubai Police, operating under the Ministry of Interior, for successfully organising and hosting the challenge. He highlighted the consistent growth of the event each year and its success in meeting key objectives, including:
Enhancing competitiveness among special units
Promoting exchange of expertise and operational skills
Strengthening preparedness against evolving security threats
Global Platform for Tactical Excellence
His Highness also noted that the UAE SWAT Challenge has become an exceptional platform for both local and international tactical teams. He said the competition enables participants to:
Share experiences and knowledge
Learn about global best practices in rapid response operations
Assess operational efficiency and readiness
The UAE SWAT Challenge continues to strengthen cooperation among police forces worldwide while improving their capabilities to respond to modern security challenges.
