UAE Foils Iranian Missile and Drone Attack, 3 Injuries Reported

On May 8, 2026, the UAE Ministry of Defence reported a successful interception of two ballistic missiles and three drones launched from Iran. The incident left three individuals with moderate injuries.

This event is part of a series of Iranian attacks aimed at the UAE. Since the onset of hostilities, the UAE's defence systems have managed to intercept 551 ballistic missiles, 29 cruise missiles, and 2,263 drones.

The ministry also noted that the total injuries documented since the attacks began have now reached 230, affecting nationals from diverse backgrounds including Emirati, Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Egyptian, Filipino, Sudanese, Sri Lankan, Nepali, Jordanian, Palestinian, Moroccan, Russian, and others.

According to officials, the count of those who have lost their lives has tragically risen to three, among whom was a Moroccan civilian contractor affiliated with the armed forces. Additionally, civilian fatalities are reported at ten, with victims from India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Palestine, and Egypt.

The Ministry of Defence reaffirmed that the UAE remains steadfast in its readiness to address any threats to the nation's security. Authorities have assured that all vital measures are in place to safeguard the country's sovereignty, its citizens, residents, and critical infrastructure as regional tensions escalate.
