UAE and UK Address Iran's Aggression and Regional Stability in London

Post by : Bianca Haleem

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, convened with Jonathan Powell, the UK's National Security Adviser, in London to deliberate on pressing regional issues and security challenges arising from Iran's attacks on civilian sites within the UAE.

The two officials reviewed the ramifications of recent missile and drone assaults from Iran targeting civilian infrastructures in the UAE. Jonathan Powell conveyed the UK’s support towards the UAE, unequivocally condemning these actions as unprovoked terrorist strikes.

Sheikh Abdullah expressed appreciation to the UK for its unwavering support and reassured that the safety of all residents and visitors in the UAE remains intact.

Their discussions also extended to the broader consequences of these attacks on global shipping routes, energy supplies, and the overall economy. Officials from both the UAE and the UK emphasized the necessity for strengthened international collaboration to safeguard maritime passages and ensure uninterrupted global trade.

Additionally, the conversation included strategies for enhancing regional and global partnerships to bolster security, peace, and stability throughout the region.

The meeting reaffirmed the robust strategic alliance between the UAE and the United Kingdom.

Attendees included Lana Nusseibeh, UAE Minister of State; Saeed Al Hajeri, Minister of State; and Mansoor Abulhoul, the UAE Ambassador to the UK.
