UAE Kicks Off 2026 with Drones and Fireworks Aiming for Records

Post by : Bianca Haleem

As the United Arab Emirates stepped into the New Year 2026, it was a night filled with vibrant celebrations, showcased through stunning fireworks and an ambitious drone spectacle spanning various emirates. The nationwide events included several attempts to claim Guinness World Records, underscoring the UAE’s commitment to innovation and excellence.

Among the highlights was an impressive drone show featuring around 6,500 drones, meticulously synchronized over a 20-minute display. Set to music and accompanied by fireworks, the performance unveiled the “largest aerial phoenix display,” perfectly timed with the New Year countdown, mesmerizing viewers and affirming the UAE’s status as a leader in global celebratory events.

In Ras Al Khaimah, the emirate celebrated a successful Guinness World Record achievement through the largest drone-created aerial phoenix display. The captivating 15-minute performance extended beautifully along the coast, from Al Marjan Island to Al Hamra Island, continuing a local tradition of majestic year-end celebrations.

Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed Festival in Al Wathba became a focal point for New Year's celebrations, as organizers aimed for five Guinness World Records during the evening. Kicking off at 8:00 PM, the night concluded with a breathtaking 62-minute non-stop fireworks display lighting up the sky into the early hours.

Dubai also upped the ante with celebrations that included 48 separate fireworks displays across 40 prominent locations, featuring landmarks such as Burj Khalifa, Burj Al Arab, Atlantis The Palm, Expo City Dubai, and Hatta.

Sharjah joined in the festivities with synchronized 10-minute fireworks displays at Al Majaz Waterfront, Al Heera Beach, and Khorfakkan Beach, contributing to a vibrant New Year atmosphere throughout the nation.

These magnificent events and record-breaking attempts highlight the UAE’s dedication to cultural excellence and creativity, setting an exciting foundation for the year ahead.
