The United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) has achieved a major academic milestone, securing the top position in the UAE, third place in the GCC, and 55th rank across Asia in the Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings 2026.

This recognition highlights UAEU’s strong role as a leading national institution driving excellence in higher education, research, and innovation.

Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh, Cultural Advisor to the UAE President and Chancellor of UAEU, said the achievement reflects the university’s long journey since its establishment as the UAE’s first comprehensive national university. He emphasized its mission to build human capital and advance knowledge.

He added that UAEU’s top ranking in the UAE and progress among Asia’s leading universities demonstrate its commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and research. He also noted that this success aligns with the UAE leadership’s vision of investing in people and knowledge.

Marking its Golden Jubilee, UAEU is reflecting on its achievements while aiming for a more impactful future. The university continues to position itself as a center of knowledge and a key contributor to sustainable development both locally and globally.

Ahmed Ali Al Raeesi, Vice Chancellor of UAEU, stated that this achievement reflects the university’s continuous efforts to improve its academic and research systems. He highlighted the focus on enhancing education quality, meeting international standards, and strengthening its position as a global research university.

He added that UAEU plays an important role in preparing skilled graduates who can lead the future and support the UAE’s knowledge-based economy and sustainable growth.

The 2026 THE Asia University Rankings are based on 18 performance indicators grouped into five key areas: teaching, research environment, research quality, international outlook, and industry income.

This achievement reinforces UAEU’s commitment to world-class education, innovation, and community engagement. It also strengthens its role in supporting the UAE’s vision of becoming a global hub for education, research, and sustainable development.
