UN Warns of Escalating Hostilities in Lebanon

The United Nations has sounded the alarm over the increasing violence in Lebanon after Israeli shelling struck southern Beirut on Thursday. The UN cautioned that the heightening tensions could further deteriorate conditions in the area.

A representative for the UN Secretary-General urged all factions to honor the ceasefire and refrain from launching additional attacks. They highlighted the crucial need for stability and the avoidance of further escalations.

The UN also condemned any assaults on civilians and civilian structures, urging all conflicting parties to act judiciously and adhere to international humanitarian laws.

The recent shelling in southern Beirut has raised alarm over the potential for a wider conflict, with international leaders continuing to emphasize the importance of restraint and peaceful negotiation.
