The conflict between the United States and Iran intensified on Thursday as both sides exchanged fresh attacks, raising fears of a broader regional confrontation. The latest developments have increased uncertainty across the Gulf region and placed global energy markets on alert.
US Central Command confirmed that it carried out another round of what it described as self-defense strikes against Iranian targets. The operation marked the second consecutive day of military action, following escalating tensions linked to attacks on American assets and regional security concerns.
Iran strongly condemned the strikes, calling them a violation of international law and warning that the attacks had effectively undermined ongoing efforts to preserve a fragile ceasefire. Iranian officials stated that Washington would bear responsibility for any serious consequences resulting from the latest military actions.
The situation became more alarming after Tehran announced measures affecting the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most important energy transit routes. Although US authorities said commercial shipping was continuing through the waterway, concerns have grown over maritime security and the potential impact on global oil supplies.
Regional tensions also spread beyond Iran and the United States. Jordan reported intercepting 20 missiles launched toward its territory, while Bahrain confirmed that falling debris from intercepted projectiles caused property damage and minor injuries. Kuwait also heightened security measures after missile-related threats were reported in the region.
Maritime incidents added another layer of concern. An Indian-linked vessel came under attack off the coast of Oman, while a separate tanker experienced an engine-room fire near the Strait of Hormuz. Authorities are investigating both incidents as international shipping companies closely monitor developments in Gulf waters.
Amid the rising tensions, Pakistan called for diplomacy and dialogue to resolve the crisis. Global observers continue to watch the situation closely as fears grow that further military escalation could threaten regional stability, disrupt trade routes and impact international energy markets.
