Record Voter Turnout Marks Vietnam's 2026 Election

Post by : Shakul

Vietnam has successfully concluded its 2026 national elections, achieving one of the highest voter turnout rates in its history. Official reports indicate that over 76 million voters participated at more than 72,000 polling stations, resulting in a remarkable turnout of 99.7 percent. The elections were held for selecting deputies for the 16th National Assembly and the local People’s Councils for the 2026–2031 term.

Nguyen Thi Thanh noted that the elections were carried out seamlessly with effective coordination among government bodies and political organizations. She underscored that all 500 deputies of the National Assembly were elected successfully, which reflects the meticulous planning and execution of the electoral process.

Voter participation was especially high in major urban areas like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, where the voting process was completed ahead of schedule despite their large populations. Authorities confirmed that the elections were conducted with transparency, democratic values, and security, with a notable decrease in complaints compared to past elections.

Officials stressed that the success of the election is indicative of national unity and a strong public confidence in leadership. This event is anticipated to significantly influence Vietnam’s governance and policy directions in the years ahead.
