Signed on May 21, 2026, the appointment places Nguyen Huy Dung in a pivotal position as the country embarks on significant reforms aimed at promoting digital transformation and innovation within its culture and tourism sectors. At the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra commended Nguyen Huy Dung for his expertise in science and digital transformation, emphasizing that his leadership is expected to inject renewed energy into the ministry as Vietnam progresses through a new chapter in economic and cultural growth.

Government officials underscored that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism now plays a crucial role in reinforcing national identity alongside fostering economic growth through tourism and cultural advancement. They stressed the importance of viewing culture as both a national treasure and a strategic asset for sustainable progress.

The Deputy Prime Minister called for an expedited digital transformation across various departments within the ministry, including tourism management, family services, and media governance. The government aims to streamline public administration and establish digital databases to enhance service delivery.

As part of the national reform agenda linked to science, technology, and innovation, the ministry faces several critical tasks. Authorities believe effective digital transformation will be vital for meeting future growth objectives and bolstering Vietnam's global competitiveness.

In his acceptance remarks, Nguyen Huy Dung expressed gratitude to the Communist Party and national leadership for their trust.
