Vietnam Unveils Significant Policy Reforms This Week

Post by : Shakul

During the week of April 4–10, 2026, the Vietnamese government, led by the Prime Minister, unveiled a range of pivotal policy reforms aimed at boosting economic growth, simplifying bureaucratic procedures, and fostering innovation. These initiatives are designed to enhance governance and support the nation’s overarching development goals.

Among the reforms, Resolution No. 66 was particularly notable; it targets the reduction of administrative hurdles associated with business operations across 14 government ministries. This initiative is anticipated to alleviate regulatory challenges and improve the overall business climate.

The government also prioritized improving the political system's efficiency, having approved a comprehensive plan to modernize administrative functions, reduce the frequency of unnecessary meetings, and encourage greater use of technology in governance.

In a significant development, the Prime Minister approved regional planning adjustments for six key areas through to 2030, with a long-term vision reaching 2050. Furthermore, plans to designate Dong Nai as a centrally administered city were greenlit, representing a major advancement in urban planning.

Economic and social policies saw important updates, notably increasing the income limits for eligibility in social housing schemes. New regulations facilitate higher income thresholds, expanding housing access to more citizens.

Long-term initiatives include efforts to develop 1,000 innovative enterprises by 2030 and to facilitate the global expansion of Vietnamese businesses. These strategies are meant to enhance competitiveness and foster innovation.

Additional reforms focus on advancing scientific research and innovation in educational institutions, launching a national entrepreneurship initiative, and enforcing stricter regulations on electricity, environmental protection, and food safety, underlining Vietnam's commitment to sustainable progress and modernization.
