General Secretary and President To Lam, along with senior leaders, paid their respects to President Ho Chi Minh by laying wreaths at the Ho Chi Minh Monument Park on Wednesday. This ceremony commemorated the 50th anniversary of Saigon-Gia Dinh's renaming to Ho Chi Minh City.

Solemn Ceremony Observed

The event brought together current and former national leaders, National Assembly members, government officials, Vietnam Fatherland Front representatives, military personnel, young people, and citizens. The delegation offered flowers and held a minute of silence to honor Ho Chi Minh, acknowledging his pivotal role in Vietnam's independence and reunification.

Gratitude Expressed by Leaders

The wreath displayed the words, "Forever Grateful to the Great President Ho Chi Minh." Leaders articulated their respect for Ho Chi Minh, highlighting his status as a national hero and a global cultural figure who significantly influenced modern Vietnam.

Reflecting on Half a Century of Development

This anniversary marks the National Assembly's decision on July 2, 1976, to rebrand Saigon-Gia Dinh as Ho Chi Minh City. Over the last 50 years, the city has evolved into Vietnam's largest economic hub, taking the lead in innovation, digital transformation, technology, and international collaboration.

Significant Anniversary Events Attended

After the wreath-laying, President To Lam and other dignitaries attended a special program at the Reunification Hall. This event showcased Ho Chi Minh City’s progress over the past 50 years and its vital role in the country’s development.

Commemoration Reinforces National Unity

Officials stated that the anniversary underscores Vietnam's enduring respect for President Ho Chi Minh's legacy and reaffirms the nation’s commitment to unity, sustainable advancement, and future growth. The event also recognized the contributions of generations towards Vietnam’s independence and modernization.
