Vietnam Government Announces Strategic Directives for Reforms and Development

Post by : Shakul

On April 17, 2026, the Government of Vietnam issued a comprehensive set of directives targeting various sectors such as social welfare, administrative enhancement, and infrastructure progress. These measures are a testament to the government's unwavering commitment to refining governance, expediting development projects, and fostering national solidarity.

A notable aspect of these directives is the initiative to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Day of War Invalids and Martyrs. This effort is designed to honor the sacrifices of heroic martyrs and individuals who played vital roles in the nation’s liberation and advancement, while also boosting public awareness of the nation’s historical and humanitarian principles.

The plan prioritizes improving the living standards, both materially and spiritually, for those who have served the revolution. Furthermore, it aims to galvanize public engagement in initiatives that express gratitude and remembrance, ensuring these efforts are meaningful, respectful, and aligned with national heritage.

In addition to social initiatives, the government has urged ministries to expedite the completion of legal frameworks and to refine policies related to ethnic and religious matters. Authorities are instructed to improve administrative efficiency, finalize databases on ethnicity and religion, and address issues in local communities promptly.

Infrastructure development is a primary focus, with significant attention given to major railway projects. Pham Gia Tuc has instructed local authorities and ministries to hasten progress on crucial rail systems, including the North-South high-speed railway and the Lao Cai–Hanoi–Hai Phong line, ensuring they meet quality, efficiency, and long-term viability standards.

The government also highlighted the necessity for modern urban development strategies, incorporating transit-oriented development models in key cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. These strategies aim to enhance connectivity, optimize land use, and support sustainable urban expansion.

Moreover, authorities have been directed to bolster inter-ministerial collaboration, advance administrative reforms, and ensure that policies are communicated effectively to the public. The overarching objective is to cultivate transparency, foster public trust, and guarantee the efficient implementation of policies across all sectors.

These directives signify Vietnam’s determination to harmonize economic growth with social accountability and governance advancements, while also cherishing historical values and fortifying national development strategies.
