Al Waab Center Enhances Weekend Healthcare in Qatar

Post by : Bianca Haleem

In a significant enhancement to healthcare accessibility, the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) has revealed that Al Waab Health Center will commence weekend healthcare services from next Friday, thereby broadening the availability of medical care across Qatar.

With the inclusion of Al Waab Health Center, the count of PHCC centers operating over the weekend has now reached 22. These centers have been strategically positioned across various regions to ensure residents have convenient access to healthcare, particularly during weekends.

The weekend operational health centers encompass Musheireb, Al Sheehaniya, Muaither, Al Ruwais, Umm Salal, Madinat Khalifa, Leabaib, Al Khor, Gharrafat Al Rayyan, Al Waab, Al Matar, West Bay, Omar Bin Al Khattab, Al Wakra, Rawdat Al Khail, Al Thumama, Al Mashaf, Al Sadd, Al Rayyan, Abu Bakr Al Siddiq, Al Wajba, and Al Jemailer, the latter functioning on an on-call basis.

PHCC articulated that this expansion is part of its broader strategy dedicated to making healthcare more accessible, bringing medical services closer to the communities, and boosting the overall efficiency and flexibility of healthcare provision nationwide.

In parallel, PHCC is enhancing urgent care services through 15 health centers that offer round-the-clock urgent services for adults. These facilities are equipped to manage non-life-threatening medical conditions, thus alleviating the burden on hospital emergency rooms and permitting hospitals to allocate resources to critical cases.

Additionally, the PHCC provides an urgent telephone consultation service from Sunday to Thursday via its hotline 16000. This service enables patients to obtain medical advice, guidance, and referrals based on their health conditions without requiring immediate visits to a healthcare facility.

Currently, PHCC operates 31 health centers in Qatar, serving as a pivotal provider of community-focused healthcare services that supports the nation's goal of delivering efficient and accessible medical care to all residents.
