In a successful two-day eco-tourism initiative at the Amu Darya State Nature Reserve in Turkmenistan, youth participants came together to foster awareness about environmental sustainability.
Organized by the “Young Naturekeeper” public organization in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme and the Global Environment Facility, this event focused on conservation and the sustainable management of ecosystems in the Aral Sea area.
The main objective of the initiative was to promote ecological literacy among the younger generation and instill a responsible connection to nature. Participants had the opportunity to explore the reserve, gaining firsthand knowledge of its unique ecosystems.
During their exploration, experts led them through coastal forests, introducing them to rare avian species and the rich wildlife present in the reserve. This experience significantly deepened their appreciation for biodiversity and conservation efforts.
Key aspects of the program focused on practical learning, showcasing contemporary approaches to nature preservation and advocating for sustainable lifestyles, including eco-friendly dietary habits.
Bahargul Kuliyeva, a volunteer with the organization, expressed that the eco-tour enhanced her understanding of the need to protect nature and motivated her to engage in environmental preservation.
At the end of the event, certificates of appreciation were awarded to active participants, acknowledging their dedication to environmental awareness.
The organizers noted that initiatives like this are essential for cultivating an ecological culture among youth and inspiring them to engage in future conservation endeavors for preserving natural resources and ecosystems.
